Aegean Airlines has finalized an agreement with the Cyprus Civil Aviation Department to establish a direct air link between Larnaca and Brussels. This strategic route, set to commence on December 1, 2025, aims to provide a reliable and stable connection between Cyprus and the European Union's administrative heart, particularly in anticipation of Cyprus's upcoming EU Presidency.
The service will operate under a Public Service Obligation (PSO) mechanism, ensuring its continuity until November 30, 2026. Flight frequencies will vary throughout the period, beginning with three weekly return flights in December 2025, increasing to five weekly flights from January to June, then reducing to three in July, and two per week from August to November 2026. This structured schedule is designed to meet fluctuating demand while maintaining essential connectivity.
Cyprus's Transport Minister Alexia Vafeades highlighted the importance of this arrangement, stating it will significantly enhance the country's access to European decision-making centers. The direct flights are expected to serve the critical needs of Cypriot citizens, professionals, and institutions requiring regular travel to Brussels, fostering stronger ties and facilitating diplomatic and business exchanges.
Under the terms of the agreement, a maximum basic fully flexible economy fare has been set at €400 each way. This fare is inclusive of all additional charges, a 23kg checked baggage allowance, and an in-flight meal, providing a comprehensive package for travelers. The signing ceremony saw key representatives from both the Cyprus government and Aegean Airlines formalizing this crucial aviation partnership.
