The agreement was signed in Mumbai on January 16, 2026, by Air India CEO and Managing Director Campbell Wilson and SIA CEO Goh Choon Phong.
This move deepens the long-standing ties between the two Star Alliance member carriers. Singapore Airlines currently holds a 25.1% equity stake in the Air India Group.
Strategic Goals and Customer Benefits
The primary goal of the framework is to enhance connectivity between India and Singapore. The airlines plan to coordinate flight schedules more closely. This will enable smoother and more convenient connections for passengers.
Key Partnership Elements
The proposed JBA will allow the carriers to explore a partnership based on the principle of aircraft neutrality. This means revenues or profits could be shared on select routes, regardless of which airline operates the flight.

The airlines already have an extensive codeshare relationship. This partnership covers 61 points across 20 countries, following an expansion in October 2024.
