Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet issued advisories warning of flight disruptions due to dense fog affecting Delhi and North Indian airports.

Key Points

  • 1Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet issued advisories warning of flight disruptions across Northern and Eastern Indian airports due to dense fog.
  • 2Delhi Airport confirmed that low visibility procedures are active, though operations are currently reported as normal, urging passengers to check flight status.
  • 3Air India cautioned that delays could cause a "ripple effect" across its entire network, affecting onward domestic and international services.
  • 4Air India activated its FogCare initiative, offering eligible passengers penalty-free flight changes or full refunds during the fog window.

Dense fog and low visibility conditions continue to impact air travel across Northern and Eastern India, prompting major commercial carriers to issue comprehensive travel advisories. While Delhi Airport (DEL) confirmed that low visibility procedures were in progress, it maintained that all flight operations were currently functioning normally, urging passengers to contact their respective airlines for real-time updates. The disruptions are primarily affecting airports including Lucknow (LKO), Amritsar (ATQ), Patna (PAT), and Varanasi (VNS) during the critical holiday travel period.

Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet have all cautioned flyers about potential delays and cancellations. Air India specifically warned that disturbances at key hubs could lead to a “ripple effect across the network,” impacting onward services nationwide. To mitigate inconvenience, Air India activated its FogCare initiative, allowing eligible passengers on affected flights to change bookings without penalty or opt for a full refund. The airline also confirmed 24/7 availability of ground teams to assist with re-accommodation and alternative travel arrangements.

IndiGo and SpiceJet also cited low visibility at numerous secondary airports. IndiGo noted schedule impacts at locations like Jammu, Hindon, and Ranchi, while SpiceJet listed affected destinations including Gorakhpur (GOP), Darbhanga (DBR), and Ayodhya (AYJ). All carriers strongly advised travelers to check their flight status via official digital channels before proceeding to the airport, emphasizing that teams are working diligently to restore normal operations as weather conditions improve.
