Flair Airlines, the Canadian Ultra Low-Cost Carrier (ULCC), officially launched its new non-stop service connecting Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) with Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay (MBJ), Jamaica. The inaugural flight departed on Thursday, December 18, marking the expansion of Flair’s Jamaican operations and establishing Montego Bay as the second destination served by the airline on the island.
The new route is strategically timed to coincide with the start of the peak winter travel season and is seen as critical support for Jamaica’s tourism sector as it continues recovery efforts following a recent hurricane. Flair Airlines CEO Maciej Wilk stated that the addition of MBJ reflects the airline's commitment to making travel more reliable, delightful, and affordable, emphasizing the honor of strengthening connections between Canada and Jamaica.
Jamaica's Minister of Tourism, Edmund Bartlett, welcomed the added connectivity, highlighting its importance for the island’s resilience and accessibility during the post-hurricane rebound. The Minister noted that strengthening airlift supports recovery efforts, bolsters the tourism sector, and reaffirms the strong demand for Jamaica’s culture and hospitality. The Toronto to Montego Bay route will operate up to twice weekly, with starting fares for the one-way service beginning at CAD $191.
