Over the weekend, more than 1,300 flights were cancelled between O'Hare and Midway. As of Monday morning, an additional 146 cancellations were reported at O'Hare and one at Midway. The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had previously indicated that on Sunday, departures from O'Hare faced average delays of nearly an hour due to snow and ice, while arrivals were delayed by approximately 15 minutes. Travelers reported frustrating experiences, including extended waits on the tarmac before flights were ultimately deboarded and cancelled.
The National Weather Service confirmed that O'Hare recorded 8.4 inches of snow on Saturday, marking the snowiest November day in Chicago's history. Meteorologists predict light snow will begin early Monday afternoon, with an expected accumulation of one to three inches. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 2 p.m. to midnight, coinciding with potential hazardous commuting conditions including fog and black ice on roadways.
