Cork Airport is set to significantly enhance long-haul travel and global connectivity for passengers across the south of Ireland through major schedule increases with several leading international airlines. These improvements will provide travelers with expanded access to Europe’s best-connected airport hubs, offering seamless onward connections to hundreds of destinations worldwide.
Key airline partners are bolstering their services from Cork. German flag carrier Lufthansa will increase its Cork-Frankfurt service to five flights per week, expanding to six during peak summer periods, marking its second consecutive summer of growth from the airport. SWISS International Air Lines, via its subsidiary Edelweiss, will resume its twice-weekly Zurich service earlier in the year, starting March 31. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines will maintain its strong connectivity with three daily services to Amsterdam Schiphol, a vital international hub.
French flag carrier Air France will resume daily services to Paris Charles de Gaulle earlier next year, from March 1, offering up to 10 flights per week during peak travel. Aer Lingus, Cork Airport’s busiest route operator, will maintain its four-times daily service to London Heathrow, providing extensive connections across the wider British Airways global network to North America, Latin America, the Middle East, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
This increased European hub connectivity solidifies Cork Airport's position in providing optimal international access for passengers in the South of Ireland. The expansion is expected to deliver substantial benefits for the regional economy, supporting business, inbound tourism, and foreign direct investment. Stakeholders, including the Irish Department of Transport and the Cork Business Association, have praised the growth, highlighting its positive impact on trade and leisure travel.
