easyJet Expands Newcastle Base with New Flights to Rome and Lisbon

easyJet has announced two major new routes from Newcastle Airport to popular European capitals. The new services to Rome and Lisbon are set to launch ahead of the airline’s new three-aircraft base opening in March.

Flights to Rome Fiumicino (FCO) will begin on March 30. This launch aligns perfectly with the opening of the new base. Fares for the twice-weekly service start from a competitive £33.99.

The second new route is the highly anticipated Newcastle to Lisbon city break connection. Flights to the Portuguese capital will commence later in the season, starting June 22. This new service will also operate on Mondays and Fridays, with fares from £43.99.

Lisbon is a brand-new destination for Newcastle Airport. Airport bosses have long sought to deliver this route due to strong customer demand. The timing is strategic, as Lisbon was recently named the “Leading City Break Destination” at the 2025 European World Travel Awards. This highlights the city's appeal to UK travellers.

Kevin Doyle, easyJet’s UK Country Manager, noted the expansion provides customers across the North East and Southern Scotland with more choice. This connectivity serves both cultural city trips and relaxing beach holidays.
