Flighty Report Names Ryanair, easyJet, and Air France Most Delayed Airlines of 2025
Budget carriers Ryanair and easyJet, alongside Air France, were jointly named the world's most delayed airlines in the 2025 Flighty report.

Key Points

  • 1Ryanair, easyJet, and Air France jointly topped the list of most delayed airlines in 2025, with 29 percent of their tracked flights experiencing delays.
  • 2Passengers flying on Flighty-tracked journeys lost a total of 3.9 million hours due to delays globally throughout the 2025 calendar year.
  • 3Frontier Airlines was identified as the worst-performing US carrier for delays, ranking fourth globally with 28 percent of its flights failing to depart on time.
  • 4Operational issues like gate congestion and taxiing added 1.4 million hours of "lost time" for passengers waiting to disembark, averaging 14 extra minutes per flight.

The 2025 Global Passport Report released by flight tracking application Flighty identified Ryanair, easyJet, and Air France as the world's most delayed carriers, with all three reporting a 29 percent delay rate among tracked user flights. This joint ranking highlights significant operational challenges for both major European flag carriers and leading budget airlines. The report, which analyzed over 22 million user flights, calculated that passengers collectively lost approximately 3.9 million hours due to flight delays throughout 2025.

The analysis also highlighted the worst performers in other regions. Frontier Airlines was ranked fourth globally, making it the United States' most delayed airline with 28 percent of its flights experiencing delays. Lufthansa and Qantas tied for fifth place, each recording a 26 percent delay rate. Rounding out the top ten were KLM Royal Dutch, Air Canada, JetBlue Airways, and Southwest Airlines, all registering 25 percent of their flights as delayed.

Beyond standard delays, Flighty also tracked "lost time"—the period between scheduled arrival and actual passenger disembarkation—often caused by gate unavailability or taxiing congestion. This metric revealed that three out of every ten flights tracked in 2025 were extended, adding up to 1.4 million extra hours of waiting time, averaging about 14 additional minutes per flight. The report's findings precede a turbulent festive travel period marked by confirmed strikes at London Luton and Heathrow airports.
