Regional carrier FLY91 has announced a major network expansion. The airline is launching daily non-stop flights between Kochi and Agatti. This new service will significantly enhance air access to the Lakshadweep islands. Bookings for the new route are currently open. Operations are scheduled to begin in early February 2026.
This announcement is part of a phased expansion strategy. FLY91 plans to add seven new stations over the next 90 days. The new destinations include Kochi, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Hubballi, Dabolim, Nanded, and Indore. This growth will bring the airline’s total network to 15 destinations.
Fleet and Operational Strategy
The airline's expansion is supported by a growing fleet. FLY91 is inducting three additional ATR 72-600 aircraft within 45 days. This will increase the total fleet size to six aircraft. The ATR 72-600 is the cornerstone of the airline’s operations. It is well-suited for short-haul regional routes. The turboprop's capabilities support operations at secondary and underserved airports.
FLY91, headquartered in Goa, focuses on regional air connectivity India. The airline operates from its base at Manohar International Airport (MIA), Goa. The new Kochi service complements the existing Agatti route via Goa. This provides island residents and visitors with greater flexibility. It offers improved connectivity to the Indian mainland.
Impact on Regional Aviation
This network growth targets tier-two and tier-three cities. These aspirational destinations are key to India's future growth. Improved regional connectivity is essential for unlocking this potential. Manoj Chacko, MD and CEO of FLY91, noted the launch adds momentum to regional aviation.
The Kochi–Agatti flights are crucial for the Lakshadweep archipelago. Agatti Island is an emerging tourism destination. Enhanced air connectivity is expected to support sustainable tourism development. It also eases travel for island residents. They rely on limited transport options for commerce and healthcare.
New Route Details
Beyond the daily Kochi–Agatti services, FLY91 is introducing other routes. Initial phases include thrice-daily flights:
- Rajahmundry–Hyderabad
- Vijayawada–Hyderabad
Daily services will also run on the Hubballi–Hyderabad and Hubballi–Bengaluru routes. Subsequent phases will connect Nanded to South Goa and Bengaluru. Indore will be linked to Jalgaon and Hyderabad in the second phase. This measured, scalable expansion strategy is central to FLY91's business model.
