IndiGo Flight Cancellations Stabilize in India After December 2025 Disruptions

IndiGo, a major Indian carrier operating over 2,300 flights daily and serving nearly 65 percent of India's domestic air travellers, experienced significant operational disruptions in early December 2025. These widespread cancellations led to numerous passengers being stranded across airports nationwide, missing critical medical appointments, family events, and examinations. The crisis garnered extensive media and social media attention due to the severe impact on thousands of travellers, including children and elderly passengers facing prolonged waits.

As of December 12, 2025, IndiGo's flight operations have begun to stabilize, though some cancellations are still being reported at key Indian airports such as Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, and Delhi. Delhi Airport's official advisory on December 6, 2025, confirmed a return to normalcy but urged passengers to verify their flight status before departure. The Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has also taken action, suspending four safety and operational compliance officials in response to the IndiGo fiasco.

In response to the crisis, IndiGo announced on December 11, 2025, that it has processed full refunds for all flights cancelled during the disruption, including those booked through third-party agents. For upcoming travel, IndiGo advises passengers to check flight status before leaving home, understand refund and rebooking options, arrive early at the airport, keep customer support numbers accessible, and be aware of their rights regarding delays or cancellations not caused by weather.
