IndiGo Flight Experiences Viral Pigeon Intrusion During Week of Major
Key Points
- 1A pigeon unexpectedly boarded an IndiGo flight from Vadodara, with the viral video capturing passenger reactions and a moment of humor.
- 2This incident occurred as IndiGo faced severe operational challenges, including over 450 flight cancellations on a single day due to crew shortages.
- 3The disruptions stemmed from new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) regulations, which the Indian government has since paused, with IndiGo expecting normal operations by December 10.
Passengers on an IndiGo flight from Vadodara were surprised when a pigeon entered the aircraft cabin, creating a moment of both laughter and minor chaos. A video recorded by passenger Karn Parekh, showing the bird flapping through the aisle, quickly went viral, attracting numerous humorous comments online about unexpected in-flight entertainment.
This unusual incident coincided with a challenging week for IndiGo, as the airline faced widespread operational disruptions across India. On a single day, over 450 IndiGo flights were canceled, marking the seventh consecutive day of significant service interruptions for the carrier.
The airline attributed these disruptions to a shortage of cockpit crew, a direct consequence of new Flight Duty Time Limitations (FDTL) regulations implemented by the Indian Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). In response to the widespread issues, the Indian government has temporarily paused these new FDTL rules. IndiGo has stated that it anticipates a return to normal flight operations by December 10.
