IndiGo, India's largest airline, has successfully restored operational stability, consistently flying over 2,050 flights daily with minimal cancellations for five consecutive days. This marks a significant recovery following a recent period of disruptions. The airline reported only two cancellations due to technical issues on December 12 and 13, ensuring affected passengers were immediately rebooked. IndiGo maintains normal on-time performance across its entire network, connecting all 138 operational destinations.
The airline provided a detailed operational update, indicating a steady increase in flights from over 1,700 on December 8 to over 2,050 by December 12 and 13, with a corresponding decrease in cancellations. IndiGo has urged passengers to disregard false information regarding mass cancellations, emphasizing the integrity of its revised flight schedule. Airport partners have been instructed to display updated flight schedules on terminal screens to prevent confusion and ensure transparency for the over 3.25 lakh daily customers.
In response to the earlier operational challenges, IndiGo announced an estimated compensation exceeding Rs 500 crore for customers severely impacted by flight cancellations within 24 hours of departure or those stranded at airports on December 3, 4, and 5. The airline is actively identifying these affected customers and plans to reach out to them in January to facilitate a smooth compensation process. IndiGo reiterated its commitment to processing all refunds efficiently and expeditiously, confirming that most have already been completed, with the remainder reflecting shortly.
