ITA Airways addresses flight AZ853 cancellation claims, confirms advance notice

ITA Airways has issued a clarification to GhanaWeb concerning an earlier news report that alleged passengers were left stranded without prior notice following the cancellation of flight AZ853 from Accra to Rome on November 25. The airline stated it conducted a thorough review of the circumstances surrounding the incident, emphasizing its commitment to passenger satisfaction.

According to ITA Airways' statement, the cancellations for flight AZ853 were communicated to passengers well in advance. The airline identified only two instances where passengers could not be reached directly due to incorrect contact details provided in their booking information. For these two affected individuals, ITA Airways confirmed they were re-protected on alternative flights at the earliest available opportunity.

The carrier further clarified that, in accordance with applicable regulations, no entitlement to compensation arises for the cancellations. However, ITA Airways affirmed its dedication to passenger care by committing to review any reasonable expenses incurred by the two specific passengers and evaluate potential reimbursement where appropriate. The airline reiterated its availability for further clarification.
