Airways New Zealand is grappling with significant staff turnover within a critical team, prompting concerns from an aviation industry group. Nearly one-third of the personnel in one specific team departed this year, raising questions about potential impacts on operations.
In response, Airways New Zealand has affirmed that safety has never been compromised despite the staffing changes. The air navigation service provider currently has 22 active staff members in the affected team, with an additional two individuals recently appointed and awaiting their start dates, bringing the total to 24. Airways is actively pursuing recruitment processes to fill current vacancies, particularly within its safety and assurance functions, to address the staffing shortfall and mitigate any ongoing industry apprehension.
