SKY express launches direct Athens-Hamburg route with A320neo and A321neo aircraft

Greek carrier SKY express has officially launched its new direct service connecting Athens (ATH) with Hamburg (HAM), Germany. The route will operate three times a week on Mondays, Fridays, and Sundays, marking a significant step in the airline's strategy to expand its international network. Hamburg becomes SKY express's fifth destination in Germany, following established services to Munich, Frankfurt, Düsseldorf, and Berlin, thereby strengthening its foothold in a crucial market for Greek tourism and economy. The new Athens-Hamburg flights are operated using modern Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft. These jets are noted for their reduced environmental and noise footprints, aligning with contemporary aviation sustainability goals. SKY express currently maintains a fleet of 29 aircraft, boasting the youngest average age among Greek airlines. With this latest addition, SKY express now consistently serves 27 international destinations, further solidifying Greece's position on the global aviation map and providing diverse travel options year-round. In line with its aggressive expansion, SKY express has recently introduced direct flights to Lisbon, Madrid, Berlin, and Tel Aviv, with Lyon slated to join its flight schedule by the end of the current year. Alexandros Michalopoulos, Sales Manager of SKY express, emphasized the importance of the new route, stating, "The launch of direct flights between Athens and Hamburg marks yet another important step in strengthening our presence in Germany — a market with high potential and particular significance for Greek tourism." Dirk Behrens, Head of Aviation at Hamburg Airport, welcomed the new service, highlighting its role in enhancing connectivity with a popular destination and fostering economic and tourist ties between Greece and northern Germany.
