Law enforcement officials in Los Angeles detained a suspect following a major security breach and damage incident involving a general aviation aircraft at Van Nuys Airport (VNY). According to the Los Angeles Airport Police (LAXPD), the individual, identified only as Logan, trespassed onto a private leasehold within the airport perimeter. The suspect subsequently gained unauthorized access to a Cessna aircraft, causing significant damage to the plane and adjacent airport infrastructure.
LAXPD confirmed that officers responded immediately to the scene, taking the subject into custody shortly after the incident occurred. The Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) Los Angeles field office also confirmed that federal agents were dispatched to assist in the response and investigation, given the nature of the security breach at the controlled airport facility. Van Nuys is a major general aviation hub located in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles.
