Turkish Airlines has officially opened its first-ever European lounge outside its İstanbul hub. The new facility is located at Edinburgh Airport (EDI). The lounge was inaugurated on December 10, 2025, following a celebratory event. It is the airline’s eighth lounge facility outside of Türkiye. This opening reflects the Turkish Airlines Edinburgh lounge strategy. It exports a scaled-down version of its five-star İstanbul facility to key global markets.

A New Premium Passenger Experience

The new Turkish Airlines Lounge at Edinburgh Airport spans 673 square metres. It is designed to accommodate 149 guests. The facility is situated on Level 2 near Gate 16. It offers a wide range of high-end amenities for a premium passenger experience.

Key features of the first European lounge include:

  • An open buffet with authentic Turkish pide service available at lunch and dinner.
  • A luxury relaxation area equipped with televisions and Wi-Fi.
  • Two dedicated prayer rooms.
  • Inclusive facilities like an accessible restroom and a baby care room.

Access is granted to Business Class passengers and select Miles&Smiles members. Paid Lounge membership card holders may also enter.

This investment supports the airline's robust operations in the region. Turkish Airlines currently operates 10 weekly flights between Edinburgh and Istanbul. These Scotland to Istanbul flights provide seamless connections. Travelers can access the extensive Turkish Airlines global network of 356 destinations across 132 countries.

Turkish Airlines Chief Operations Officer, M. Akif Konar, called the lounge a significant milestone. He noted the investment shows deep commitment to European operations. Edinburgh International Airport’s Chief Commercial Officer, Stephanie Wear, welcomed the development. She stated it boosts the airport’s premium travel offering. The lounge is open to all travelers and offers fantastic runway views.

Strategic Expansion and Market Impact

The launch is part of a broader airline lounge expansion strategy. This aims to strengthen the airline's European presence. It delivers consistent, world-class service across key international markets. For the International Air Transport Association (IATA), premium services are vital. They drive revenue and loyalty in competitive long-haul markets. This move by Turkish Airlines is a clear signal. It reinforces their dedication to the UK market. It also leverages Scotland's growing role in global commercial aviation news [https://flying.flights]. The new lounge represents a significant competitive advantage. It elevates the pre-flight experience for high-value passengers. This is crucial for maintaining the airline's status.
