- 4Report on viability to be submitted to AAI senior officials for review.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) recently completed a crucial pre-feasibility study for a proposed domestic airport and cargo hub in Jharkhand's Sahibganj district. A six-member AAI team conducted on-site inspections, marking a significant step towards enhancing regional air connectivity and logistics infrastructure in eastern India. This initiative aims to bolster economic development and improve accessibility for both passengers and freight within the region.
During their visit, the AAI team meticulously examined 484.30 acres of identified land, assessing its suitability for the ambitious aviation project. The establishment of a new domestic airport would provide essential air travel options for residents and businesses in Sahibganj and surrounding areas, reducing reliance on more distant airports. Concurrently, the proposed cargo hub is envisioned to streamline freight movement, supporting local industries and facilitating trade by offering efficient air cargo services.
The comprehensive report compiled by the AAI team will now be submitted to senior officials for thorough review and evaluation. This report will detail the technical, operational, and financial viability of the proposed airport and cargo hub, outlining potential challenges and recommending the optimal path forward. A positive assessment could pave the way for further planning and development, ultimately contributing to India's expanding civil aviation network and regional growth strategies.
