This latest purchase brings Emirates' total order book with Boeing to 315 widebody aircraft, encompassing 270 Boeing 777Xs, 10 Boeing 777 freighters, and 35 Boeing 787s. Powering the 777X fleet will be GE9X engines, with Emirates holding orders for 540 units, including the 130 added in this recent deal. The airline anticipates receiving its first 777-9 in Q2 2027.
Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, emphasized that the new aircraft are integral to Emirates' expansion plans, aligning with Dubai's growth ambitions. Stephanie Pope, President and CEO of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, expressed pride in supporting Emirates' future fleet renewal and global network expansion. Russell Stokes, President & CEO, Commercial Engines & Services for GE Aerospace, highlighted the deepening partnership with Emirates and the airline's confidence in GE's technology.
Emirates' relationship with Boeing spans 40 years, during which it has operated every model in the Boeing 777 family. The airline's current fleet includes 119 Boeing 777-300ERs, 10 Boeing 777-200LRs, and 11 Boeing 777 freighters, connecting Dubai to over 140 cities across six continents. With deliveries expected up to 2038, this order represents a substantial investment in US aerospace manufacturing and job creation.
