IndiGo, Akasa Air to Begin Direct Flight To These Four Cities From Newly Inaugurated Navi Mumbai Airport

IndiGo and Akasa Air are set to begin operations from the newly opened Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA), marking a significant step in enhancing regional connectivity in India. IndiGo will initiate its NMIA operations on December 25th, connecting the airport to ten cities across India, including Delhi, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, North Goa (Mopa), Jaipur, Nagpur, Cochin, and Mangalore. The airline intends to progressively expand its NMIA operations by adding direct routes to more destinations. NMIA is designed to complement Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport and cater to the growing demand for air travel from India's financial capital.

Akasa Air will also commence operations from NMIA, with its maiden flight between Delhi and Navi Mumbai International Airport scheduled for December 25th. This will be followed by scheduled flights connecting Navi Mumbai with Goa (December 25th), Delhi and Kochi (December 26th), and Ahmedabad (December 31st). Bookings for these new routes are now available through Akasa Air's website, apps, and travel agents. Akasa Air's early association with NMIA reflects its conviction in India's infrastructure-led growth story and its commitment to fostering balanced regional development.

Praveen Iyer, Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Akasa Air, emphasized that the commencement of operations from NMIA represents a landmark moment for Akasa Air and a defining step in India's aviation evolution. NMIA will serve as a key enabler in establishing a dual-airport ecosystem that enhances connectivity, mobility, and choice for travelers. Akasa Air plans to progressively ramp up operations from NMIA, scaling up to 300 domestic and 50 international flights per week, with a focused international expansion into key Middle Eastern and Southeast Asian markets by the end of FY2027.

Strategically located, NMIA is expected to play a pivotal role in enhancing regional connectivity and supporting economic development in western India. The launch of IndiGo's and Akasa Air's operations will contribute significantly to this end by connecting the airport to their vast domestic networks. With this key development, Akasa Air is set to emerge as a key player in India's most prominent travel corridors.
