Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has approved the establishment of the AP Logistics Infrastructure Corporation (AP-LInC), a pivotal move aimed at transforming the Indian state into a premier logistics hub on the East Coast. This new corporation will serve as a nodal agency, tasked with integrating and enhancing the state's diverse logistics infrastructure, encompassing ports, airports, roads, inland waterways, and cold storage facilities. The overarching goal is to significantly reduce logistics costs and streamline operations across the region.
AP-LInC is designed to function as a government holding company, strategically positioned to attract substantial investments into Andhra Pradesh's burgeoning logistics sector. Beyond infrastructure development, the Chief Minister announced ambitious plans to establish both a dedicated logistics university and a civil aviation university within the state, signaling a long-term commitment to talent development and specialized education in these critical areas. District-level cells will also be created to foster local growth and investment in logistics.
The initiative underscores the Indian state's determination to elevate the logistics sector's contribution to its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) from the current one percent to an ambitious three percent. Andhra Pradesh, already a significant player in sea cargo transport with six existing ports and four new ones under development, aims to capitalize on its extensive 1050km coastline by establishing fishing harbors every 50km. This comprehensive strategy positions Andhra Pradesh as a crucial gateway for cargo exports, serving not only its own economy but also neighboring states like Telangana, Maharashtra, Orissa, Chhattisgarh, and parts of Karnataka.
