Key Points

  • 1Ryanair flight FR7031 from Faro to Dublin diverted to Cork Airport on December 15, 2025, due to a disruptive passenger.
  • 2A man in his 30s was arrested by Gardaí at Cork Airport under the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 2022, following the incident.
  • 3The diversion caused a 90-minute delay for the flight, which resumed its journey to Dublin after the passenger's removal.
  • 4Ryanair enforces a minimum €500 fine for disruptive behavior and seeks civil damages for costs incurred by diversions.

A Ryanair flight, FR7031, en route from Faro, Portugal, to Dublin, Ireland, was compelled to divert to Cork Airport on Monday, December 15, 2025, following an incident involving a disruptive passenger. Airline crew members alerted the pilot to the man's behavior, leading to the unscheduled landing. Upon arrival at Cork Airport shortly after 1 p.m., Gardaí were on the tarmac to board the aircraft and escort the man, in his 30s, off the flight. He was subsequently arrested under the Air Navigation and Transport Act, 2022, and is currently detained in a Garda station in County Cork, with investigations ongoing.

The diversion caused a delay of approximately 90 minutes before the aircraft could resume its journey to Dublin at around 2:30 p.m. Such incidents can incur significant operational costs for airlines, which Ryanair actively seeks to recover from disruptive individuals. The airline introduced a minimum €500 'bad behaviour' fine this year and has pursued civil damages in previous cases, including a €15,000 lawsuit against a passenger whose actions led to an overnight diversion and hotel expenses for all affected passengers. While today's disruption was shorter, Ryanair may still pursue costs incurred from the unexpected landing.
