WestJet is significantly expanding its global network with the announcement of its summer 2026 schedule, featuring new international destinations from Toronto and Halifax. A highlight of the expansion is WestJet's first non-stop service to South America from Toronto Pearson International Airport, connecting the city with Medellín, Colombia. This route, along with new services to Cardiff, United Kingdom, and Ponta Delgada, Portugal, leverages the extended range capabilities of WestJet's growing fleet of Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft. The airline is also reintroducing service between Toronto and Glasgow, Scotland.
From Halifax Stanfield International Airport, WestJet is adding four summer seasonal routes to Madrid, Spain; Lisbon, Portugal; Copenhagen, Denmark; and Detroit, Michigan, solidifying Halifax's role as WestJet's Atlantic gateway to Europe. The airline emphasizes shorter flight durations and competitive pricing to key European destinations. Furthermore, WestJet is introducing non-stop service between Edmonton and Winnipeg to Reykjavik (Keflavík), Iceland, reinforcing its commitment to maintaining global connections for Canadians.
WestJet is also expanding domestic routes, including service between Winnipeg and London, Ontario, and between Vancouver and Penticton, B.C., operated by WestJet Encore's De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft. Select sun destination routes from Toronto, Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary, and Winnipeg will now operate year-round, with vacation packages available through WestJet Vacations and Sunwing Vacations. The expansion aims to provide affordable and accessible air and vacation travel to Canadians.
Executives from Toronto Pearson, the Ontario Government, Cardiff Airport, Airplan (Medellín airport operator), AGS Airports (Glasgow Airport operator), Turismo de Portugal, VisitScotland, and Destination Canada have expressed their support for WestJet's expanded network. They anticipate the new routes will strengthen tourism, business, and cultural links between Canada and various international destinations, boosting local economies and creating opportunities for growth.
