Indian domestic carrier IndiGo has submitted its revised winter flight schedule to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), following a directive from the regulator to reduce its operations by 10 percent. This reduction comes after the airline faced intense scrutiny from the DGCA for widespread service disruptions and thousands of flight cancellations, primarily attributed to a significant crew shortage. Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu confirmed that the 10 percent cut aims to align IndiGo's operational schedule with its available pilot resources.
Under its original winter schedule, which commenced in late October and runs until late March next year, IndiGo was permitted to operate approximately 2,200 flights daily. The mandated 10 percent reduction translates to a daily cut of around 220 flights. The specific routes affected by IndiGo's revised plan have not yet been disclosed. The airline has been under close observation by the Indian DGCA since the beginning of the month due to its inability to maintain consistent service levels.
